HELPING AMERICA COPE Welcome to the homepage of the Helping America Cope Project. In this section, you will be able to download a free copy of Helping America Cope material and learn more about our project. We have also provided links to some helpful websites that may assist you in helping a child cope with the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and other traumatic events. With support and assistance from United Way of America, we have also developed material to help parents and children cope with their feelings about war, the deployment of a loved one and the possible threats of terrorist attacks. Since the start of our project, over 1 million hardcopies of Helping America Cope material have been given away free of charge to those requesting books. 7-Dippity is pleased to make available electronic versions of Helping America Cope for free download to be used with your family or loved ones. The books are designed for use with children six to twelve years of age, however many of the activities can be adapted for use with older children. Versions are available in both English and Spanish. This guide contains information and activities to help parents and children cope with the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and will assist with fears and feelings in the wake of the attacks, the ongoing war on terrorism and continued terrorist threats.. In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, many families had difficulty coping with their reactions to the terrorist attacks and ensuing events. As a public service to help those affected, Annette La Greca, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology and Pediatrics of the University of Miami, Elaine Sevin, President of 7-Dippity, and Scott Sevin, Vice President of 7-Dippity created Helping America Cope: A Guide to help Parents and Children Cope with the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. The Project currently has a limited number of copies of both the Anniversary and original editions of Helping America Cope available. Although the books are free, we ask that those wishing to obtain copies to please pay the shipping cost, as we are out of funds.
